A Song For Today

Start anywhere on the list and skip around, if you want to (the list, I mean).  But, come to think of it, skipping around the room is also a good idea.

In most cases, each song below is linked to a karaoke/sing-along video.  Occasionally, I’ve added another video.

Be warned: I can not control the advertisements that precede youtube videos.

  1. Daydream Believer” by the Monkees (In honor of Lauren and her team at Scholastic).  Cheer up, sleepy Jean. (Use Karaoke Video or sing along with the Monkees)
  2. Oh, Susannah” by Stephen Foster (use Karaoke Video or listen to Suzanne’s version on iTunes)
  3. Saturday In The Park” by Chicago. Wish it was the 4th of July…
  4. Yankee Doodle Dandy” by George M. Cohan
  5. “Beautiful” by Carole King.   Show the world all the love in your heart.
  6. Oh, My Darlin’ Clementine” traditional
  7. “Do Re Mi” (a.k.a. “Do a Deer”) from “The Sound of Music” (which you should watch tonight)
  8. “One Bottle of Pop” traditional
  9. “Dream A Little Dream of Me” circa 1931, with music by Fabian Andre and Wilbur Schwandt and lyrics by Gus Kahn.  This karaoke version is in the style of The Mamas & The Papas, but there are many versions out there.
  10. Yankee Doodle Dandy” by George M. Cohan
  11. Swing Low Sweet Chariot” traditional
  12. Down in the Valley
  13. Home on the Range
